Hay Caravan Park
Park features
Ready to relax in the Riverina region? It’s time to book your getaway at Hay Caravan Park.
Hay Caravan Park is located one kilometre east of the Sturt Highway–Cobb Highway junction. Their grassed drive-through powered and unpowered sites, including drive-through ensuite sites, are primed for camping. If your furry friends are coming along for the road trip, great news - the park is pet friendly. If you’re looking for accommodation to hit the hay (pun intended), there are three types of cabins, fitted with a fully equipped kitchen, digital TV, and reverse-cycle air conditioning. An Ensuite Cabin sleeps up to five people with a double bed and tri-bunk, while a Family Ensuite Cabin adds a sofa bed so there’s room for seven people. Non-ensuite Cabins are also available, for up to five guests.
When the weather’s warm, cool off in the in-ground saltwater pool, and on winter evenings, gather around the communal fireplace at camp kitchen. The park also has an on-site kiosk, selling your daily staples like bread and milk as well as holiday treats like ice creams and lollies. Stay clean and tidy throughout your stay thanks to a spotless amenities block and a laundry for your washing, drying, and ironing.
Known for warm summers and cloudy winters, Hay is a town brimming with heritage and hospitality. Surrounded by the Hay Plains, it’s a popular stopover when travelling between Sydney and Adelaide. The town draws annual visitors for its events including the Hay Races, Hay Rodeo, and Hay Merino Sheep Show.
The park is less than 200 metres’ walk from the Murrumbidgee River, where you can take to the water for swimming, canoeing, and water skiing; alternately, stay on the banks to go fishing or enjoy a riverside walking trail and birdwatching. Head into town to admire the heritage-listed buildings – including the Hay Gaol, Hay Post Office, Bishop’s Lodge Historic House, and Hay Railway Station – many of which house the town’s museums. Make sure you visit Shear Outback for interactive and informative storytelling about Australia’s sheep shearing past.

Getting to Hay Caravan Park
Hay is accessible from many Australian capital cities. It makes a great stopover point between Adelaide and Sydney, and it will take you about seven hours to reach Hay from either city.
If coming from Adelaide, take the South Eastern Freeway (M1), and turn left onto the Mallee Highway (B12) after Tailem Bend. Turn left onto Murray Valley Highway (B400), and right to cross the border and take Yanga Way. Turn right onto Sturt Highway (A20), pass the Sturt Highway–Cobb Highway junction, and the park is on your left.
If arriving from Sydney, exit the city via the South-Western Motorway toll road (M5) to connect onto the Hume Highway (M31), then continue onto the Sturt Highway (A20). As you approach Hay, you’ll find the park on your right.
The nearest airport is Griffith City Airport, which is about a 90-minute drive away.
